Create a Dataset

Overview

Datasets are the first step in creating an audience or a segment. They are a straightforward way for users to harness the power of Census with optimal performance. Plug in our SoundCommerce standard queries to generate key datasets and utilize Census’s straightforward UI for the rest of your segmenting needs.

Process

1. In your workspace, select Datasets in the sidebar navigation
2. Select + New Dataset
3. Name the desired dataset - include the Destination Source name and a brief description of data (e.g., Klayvio Customer Order history)
4. Select the DWH Source connection 
5. Populate SQL query from our list of standard datasets
6. Select the Show Preview button to ensure the query will execute correctly and troubleshoot where necessary
7. If there are no errors, select Create

8. Select PII identifiers for all data fields that are sensitive

9. Select Edit from the Type box to configure dataset details
10. Configure Dataset according to the details in Segment Support
