Provide access to your Google data

Use these instructions to allow SoundCommerce to access your Google Ads (formerly AdWords) and Google Analytics data. SoundCommerce IT will provide you with email accounts that you can use for this purpose.

Google Ads

To establish permissions for SoundCommerce, you’ll need to add a new user to your account, using the email account SoundCommerce provided for you.

Note: If you don’t have a Google Ads account, skip this process and complete the steps for Google Analytics.

To add SoundCommerce as a user:

1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager

2. Navigate to Admin > Access & authorization > Users

3. Select New user

4. Enter SoundCommerce and the email address client-CLIENTNAME@soundcommerce.com (where CLIENTNAME is an abbreviation of your business name)

5. Select a user role and Read Only

6. Click Save
   If the process was successful, Google Ads will send an invitation email to the SoundCommerce account (see screenshot below).

Google Analytics

To allow SoundCommerce to access your Google Analytic data, you’ll need to add two entities to your account, one of which is a service account that accesses the Google Analytics Management API. SoundCommerce will provide you with two email addresses for this purpose:

• Client email account: Client-CLIENTNAME@soundcommerce.com
• Service account: googleanalytics@soundcommerce-client-CLIENTNAME.iam.gserviceaccount.com
  
  Where CLIENTNAME is the SoundCommerce abbreviation of your business name. For example, ACME.

Important: If your organization hasn’t accessed the Analytics Management API before, you’ll need to set this up. For instructions, see Google Developer Help: Hello Analytics API: PHP quickstart for service accounts.

To add the SoundCommerce accounts:

1. Make sure that the Analytics API can be accessed with a service

2. Sign in to Google Analytics

3. Click Admin, and navigate to the column that you’ll be providing access to (Account, Property, or View)

4. From that column, click Access Management

5. In the Account permissions list, click +, and then click Add users

6. Add the SoundCommerce client email account:

   1. Enter Client-CLIENTNAME@soundcommerce.com

   2. Select Notify new users by email

   3. Specify the permission level Read and Analyze

   4. Click Add

7. Add the SoundCommerce service account:

   1. Enter googleanalytics@soundcommerce-client-CLIENTNAME.iam.gserviceaccount.com

   2. Select Notify new users by email

   3. Specify the permission level Read and Analyze

   4. Click Add
